Arundel Castle is a stately home and fortified castle dating from the 11th Century and has been the family home of the Dukes of Norfolk and their ancestors for nearly 1000 years. The castle and its magnificent gardens tower over the town offering far-reaching views across the South Downs and River Arun.

There’s a calendar of events throughout the year offering something different for every visit. The highlight is the Arundel Festival which runs at the end August, with dozens of events taking place across the ten days.

The nearby River Arun offers activities including fishing and boating. At the Arundel Wetland Centre you can walk along the quiet pathways observing the Sussex wildlife or take a boat safari, where you’ll spot water voles and hand feed rare geese.

Also, nearby, the Fontwell Park Racecourse features the only figure-of-eight chase course in the country and an oval hurdles course.
